Fast Food HEAVEN!!

So when when I'm craving that greesy, heart stoppin, artery clogging goodness I automatically think of these two spots.

Taco Nazo world famous fish tacos.... they are the best I have ever had. The fish is fried to perfection, their special roasted hot peppers are just salty enough but not over powering. Pair it with a cold Tacate/Corona and its the perfect lunch that will turn any sucky work day into a awesome one.

Another must go is Tops in Pasadena. What got me hooked on this is place is their Zucchini Fries, it has this special seasoning that makes it hard to stop once you start. To make it even more heart stopping their homemade ranch sauce is the perfect side, its not watery and generic like any old fast food joint... you know people put some love into this sauce. Even though you could order just the Zucchinis Fries alone and be full their Reuben Sandwich is a must, at least once.. the picture speaks for itself! Granted you can't always have these meals, but you must treat yourself every once in awhile. Skip the dollar menu crap and get a real meal!

Kogi Korean BBQ

Most go to bars to get snockered.. we go to get kogi-faced. LA's newest hype: Kogi Korean BBQ. Originally serving their Korean goodness from a truck... they have expanded to serving at Alibi Lounge. Prepare to throw some bows to get bar space and to create enough room to do the proper taco eating edicate....bend the elbows, hunch the back, stick out the head and tilt the mouth. (our experience has proven that "the tilt" provides more taco in the trap and collects all the spicy Korean yumminess without reapplying the lip gloss... c'mon now, we're still trying to act feminine)

Their website has been added to our links. They have their list of taco topping ingredients and best of all, their truck stop locations. Best believe we have our running shoes n' inhalers ready to go.

Koji is a must. Leaving the bar sober and smelling like a mixture of short ribs n' korean spice never felt so good.

Potluck #2

A perfect way to end the work week and start the weekend? Rolldogs and homecookin'.
The proper steps are as follows: cook. eat. nap. repeat.

To start... we made mini pigs in a blanket... succulent lil' beef smokies nuzzled inside a pillsbury crescent blanket.

Followed with deep-fried buffalo chicken bites... not pictured is our array of dipping sauces...chunky blue cheese dip, creamy ranch, and buffalo dippin' sauce. This dish alone makes deep-fryers a great investment.

After a quick nap... our bellies were ready for round two. Homemade bbq chicken pizza... with roughly 1.5 lbs of chicken laying on a bed of tangy bbq sauce... decorated with handfuls of mozzarella cheese and fresh cilantro..... why we don't own our own pizza parlor is beyond me.

....and this is how you prepare your belly for a night out... enough carbs to put you in a deep food coma or fight the urge and let it soak up henn n' crown.

Broadway Prime (San Mateo, CA)

What better way to say 'happy valentines day' to your special someone then a perfectly cooked medium rare prime rib. At Broadway Prime you get simple elegance, a cozy inviting atmosphere. The bustling bar filled with happy couples waiting to chow down on mouth watering prim rib... The Select Cut.. the most popular cut on the menu.
The perfect baked potato... fatty dollop of sour cream and chives.. I'm one happy girl.
The Select Cut English style... makes it less intimating. To bad I couldn't even dent half the dish.
A nice touch to the night was every lucky lady that was brought to this hot spot got to a lovely red rose... brownie points for the guys.

Roy's (San Francisco, CA)

If a four course prix-fixe menu doesn't say 'I love you' on Valentine's Day...honestly, what would? Roy's, a Hawaiian and Japanese fusion restaurant, always delivers. Superior service, romantic ambiance and gourmet food.

Deep fried hamachi roll. Delicious. Only downside...4 pieces.

Kobe beef carpaccio. Thin slices of beef topped with crunchy, salty masago.

Smoked salmon and feta flatbread pizza.

Creamy lobster bisque

Roy's Classic macadamian nut crusted grouper with creamy lobster sauce

Meet 'Thermadore'. A two-pound lobster who seduces as he lays on a bed of chow mein.

Crepevine (San Francisco, CA)

After a ridiculously early morning flight, nothing says 'Welcome to San Francisco' than a plate of seasoned home fries and savory crepes.

Santa Fe crepe stuffed with apple smoked sausage, spinach n' ooey gooey cheese.

California crepe with roasted peppers, avocado, fresh salsa n' a dollop of sourcream.
Crabcake Benedict.... laying on an English muffin bed, topped with poached eggs and smothered with spicy hollaindaise sauce.

Ocean Ave., (Santa Moncia, CA)

A great way to end a long work week... Dine in LA has a long list of awesome restaurants to choose from and a 3 course dinner for $34 bucks you can't go wrong no matter where you go!

So my girlfriend and I chose Ocean Ave. in Santa Monica.... good wine... good company... and good food.

we started off with a blue cheese and tossed green salad with caramelized walnuts.. a litttle too much cheese.. but if u pushed it off to the side, the rest was great.
we were a lil worried about unfresh oysters.. but they turned out great! Slurped mine down with ease.
both the mahi mahi and king salmon were very well done and presented... rice was a little off, too glossy and bland for my liking.

last but not least desert... we got warm chocolate bread pudding that is reminiscent to molten chocolate lava cake but with less ooze.. so you feel less guilty! To wash out the palate sorbet sampler... the coconut sorbet taste like your eating tropical tanning lotion but in a good way.

This would be a good spot during the day since its right night to the beach... sit out on the patio area and enjoy!

Vanilla Bake Shop (Santa Monica, CA)

If heaven were to be bundled into small packages... Vanilla Bake Shop did just that. Their cupcakes? Sweet. Sinful. Satisfying. 3 mini cupcakes for $5... the perfect antedote for 3 p.m. workday blahs.

Potluck with the girls

At least once a month, my girlfriends and I get together to cook, indulge and loosen the pants~ The picture shown above is our mini caprese salad...plump grape and mini heirloom tomatoes... soft mozzarella balls and fresh basil drizzled with balsamic vinegar, evoo, salt, pepper and crushed red pepper flakes. Ridiculously delicious!

Our homemade Saturday lunch consisted of a mini caprese salad, guacamole, deep fried tilapia (for our crispy fish tacos), caramelized onions, SPICY salsa and baked chicken (for our chicken tacos).
Seafood paella... arborio rice, jumbo prawns, squid, clams, mussels, crab and peas. Perhaps it was our feast for lunch or our chunky spanish seafood medley...but geezums.... our bellies rivaled women in their second trimester :)
